  • He is blaming Tim because he knew there were aliens
  • In the story The Monsters are Due On Maple Street by Rod Serling the theme is fear and suspicion can be destructive for many reasons and here are a few. Firstly, In the first act they are very suspicious of Mr. Goodman because he is weird. This leads to many other events in the story that are very destructive and cause other things to happen. Next in the second act Tim shoots the shadowy figure which turns out to be the guy who went to check if the other cities ran out of power. After he shoots him everybody thinks that he's the alien. This scene leads into the next and final piece of evidence which is Tim being suspicious of Tommy because he knew that there were aliens there. This is what caused the ultimate demise of Maple Street because this is when they start arguing and fighting each other. This is why the theme is fear and suspicion can be destructive forces.
