- George and Lennie share a friendship, but Lennie's developmental disabilities and childlike mindset frequently lead them into difficult situations

- Curleys, the boss's son, quickly develops a dislike for Lennie and begins to bully him. Meanwhile curleys wife stirs uup trouble by persistently trying to get men's attention.
- Curley's wife comes in, and they start to talk. Without realization, Lennie drawn to soft textures grabs her hair. When she gets anxious and asks him to let go, he becomes frighten and accidentally breaks her neck.
