- On a hot summer morning, the Draper's peace was shattered. In 1755, during the French and Indian War, Shawnee warriors raided Draper's Meadow.

- A Shawnee war party attacked Draper Meadows, killing and capturing settlers.

- Mary is captured along with her two sons and her sister-in-law, Bettie Draper. They were forced to march hundreds of miles through the wilderness to the Shawnee village in Ohio.

- After months in captivity, Mary and another woman escaped, following the River south towards home. With only 2 blankets, a hatchet a nd their will. They begin their journey to Draper Meadows.
