Storyboard Text

  • When talking to her mother about her past, Kennedy said, "I don't know any other way to be', she said. 'What do I have to hide?'" (Bennett 261). Kennedy's openness is ironic considering her mother is living a lie, and she can't even drop the facade for her own mother. This also establishes Kennedy as more like Desiree than Stella, where Desiree felt suffocated in silence and Stella felt safest in it.
  • "What are some things they say?"
  • Kennedy walked around with a sort of God complex, as she, "always thought everyone felt like a lead character onstage, surrounded by sidekicks and villains and love interests" (Bennett 281). Kennedy lived her life as the center of attention, or at least she pretended to. The reader later finds out she often felt neglected by her mother, so her affinity for the stage was likely in response to that.
  • What does the character think?
  • Jude stuck around Kennedy for answers, while those who had no choice to be around her couldn't stand her. "Like the rest of the cast, he found Kennedy insufferable" (Bennett 238). She came off as entitled, stuck up, and as the star of the show, despite her shortcomings. As a result, no one really wanted to be around her.
