  • Because Jackson gained recognition and supporters from being an intelligent lawyer, his poor life and difficult circumstances had no effect in his ability to run for president. Additionally, he became a major war hero to Americans when he served as a major general in the War of 1812 and led the British to their defeat. Jackson did not succeed with his first attempt for running for president in 1824, because he did not receive enough electoral votes and John Quincy Adams ended up winning, but he won the election in his second attempt in 1828 and proceeded to serve for 2 terms.

  • Hello my name is Teddy! I am here to talk a little bit about the 7th US President Andrew Jackson, and his contradictory actions throughout his presidency. From 1829 to 1837, Jackson served in office as the president and notoriously made controversial decisions that often countered his beliefs. Jackson grew up in a log cabin in a Scottish-Irish immigrant family, and his household struggled deeply with poverty.

  • Because of the little opportunities he had as a child, he didn’t receive much of an education and as a result, started his career in the military at an early age of 13. This first event was a battle at Hanging Rock to fight against British when the American Revolution was coming to an end. From there, his career took a more political approach when he began practicing law and later becoming a politician. Let’s take a look at how he became president.
