Storyboard Text

  • Come and get the freshest produce from inland - way fresher than other city produce!
  • Shop here! Our products simply can't be matched by the other Malay cities!
  • Before the era of Colonialism in the Malay Peninsula, the notion of "race" did not exist. Populations were judged based on which city they hailed from.
  • Imported goods from up the coast, right here! It beats anything from the other Malay cities!
  • But that all changed when the English incited their rule...
  • The Malay Peninsula was never the same after then, what follows is the chronicles of our treatment...
  • Starting now, we will separate you all based on your race, boroughs of Chinese, Indian, and Malay!
  • Henceforth, new measures for each of your races will be put into place:...
  • Hmm, admirable work. We'll let you keep working, but mark our words - any dissent and you're headed back to China.
  • The Chinese were seen as peerless in terms of work ethic, but the colonizers were eager to send them back on a whim, once their work was done...
  • Indians, on the other hand, were more or less extra hands for labor. The English had no reason to believe they were anything more than docile, lesser folk.
  • Keep up this work, our quarters won't build itself!
  • Finally the Malay themselves...they were deemed incapable of taking care of themselves, their economy, and incompetent with the land in their hands. While the Chinese and Indians could start businesses in cities, the Malay were expressly forbidden.
  • The other industries are too dangerous, and we've been forced out because the colonizers think we're lazy because of it.
  • Why are we working under such harsh conditions than anywhere else?
  • And so it became the "white man's burden" to colonize the Malay Peninsula for their own moral obligation, and thus the effects of race were felt for the first time ever.
  • It is our moral obligation to do what we do to enhance the Malay Peninsula by putting these peoples to work and doing what we must to the land!
