The Triassic Period is the first of the three geologic periods of the Mesozoic Era.#160;#160;The Triassic Period (252-201 million years ago) began after the Great Dying took place roughly 252 million years ago.
At the beginning of the Triassic, virtually all the major landmasses of the world were collected into the supercontinent of Pangaea.#160; The climate was hot and dry.#160; This was the age of reptiles and the first real mammals.#160;#160;
Many think that the Triassic period ended because of volcanic eruptions that came from Pangaea separating into more distinct continents.#160; This brought on the beginning of the Jurassic Period.
The Jurassic Period is also in the Mesozoic Era.#160; It occurred 199.6 to 145.5 million years ago.#160; This period#160;was characterized by a warm, wet climate that gave rise to lush vegetation and abundant life.
Reptiles like dinosaurs were the dominant animals.#160; Well -known dinosaurs of the Jurassic include the plated Stegosaurus, the flying Pterosaurs,#160;Brachiosaurus, and#160;Allosaurus.#160;#160;Early mammals were mostly very small herbivores or insectivores and were not in competition with the larger reptiles.
There were two extinction events during the Jurassic Period, the Pliensbachian-Toarcian extinction in the Early Jurassic epoch and the Tithonian event in the Late Jurassic epoch.#160;#160;The supercontinent Pangaea broke up during the Jurassic Period.#160;#160;
