Storyboard Text

  • Get these "Indians" out of here! I want land to grow cotton and earn money!
  • We are going to remove all of them. Once they're gone, we can take the land that belonged to the "Indians"
  • 1830
  • Andrew Jackson and the Indian Removal Act
  • How exactly are you going to force the Indigenous out?
  • The Indian Removal Act was passed! We have to negotiate with the "Indians" so that they could give up their land peacefully. I want their lands. I just want the Indians gone, even if I have to FORCE them out of their lands. We'll provide $500,000to the "Indians" for compensation and transportation, they'll be fine!
  • Easy! I'm going to make them march together to the "Indian" territory. We are gonna threaten them with our army. They'll walk even if they don't want to! We'll start with the Choctaw. Then we'll move onto the Creek, Chickasaw, Seminole, and Cherokee.
  • Winter 1831
  • LET'S GO, LET'S GO....
  • I'm so hungry they didn't give up food. We're gonna starve!
  • Choctaw transported out of their lands
  • This is the government's first time transporting large amounts of people and their goods. People are dying from starvation, malnutrition, exhaustion, and disease. But we can't do anything: we sold our land to be transported with our goods.
  • They're supposed to support us DURING and AFTER this journey. People are dying!
  • We want to keep our land! We want to fight for it, we don't want to give up what's ours!
  • Cherokee Division and Negotiations
  • Don't worry, as your self appointed Cherokee leaders, we're gonna negotiate the land! The U.S. government will pay us for our land, relocation services, and compensation for the lost property. The U.S. government seems to love it!
  • We should sell the land, that why we'll get money and they'll get they're land. That way none of us will die!
  • You guys have no authority to represent us!
  • We tried taking legal action with the Cherokee Nation v. Georgia (1831) and the Worchester v. Georgia (1832). They didn't help at all and now we're gonna be forced out of our lands!
  • Cherokee Rejection of Negotiation
  • Trail of Tears
  • We're so exhausted and hungry!
  • At least we have their land. Now, Americans can properly profit off of the land!
  • You know, they put some of the "Indians" in internment camps before they start their journey.
  • Around 15,000 Cherokee "Indians" are journeying almost a third of them died because they were unprepared.
