- that isn't fair we were promised that slavery wouldn't go further
- our plan is that we are going to protect the southern states.
- we are going to leave the union and not come back
- Abraham Lincoln ran for president and when he did his name didn't even show up on most of the ballet so yet they still voted for him. despite the fact that it didn't show up on the ballet he still got 40% of the popular votes and won the form the northern states.
- Lincoln promised that he would not mess with slavery that is already going on in the southern states. the south finally went through the longstading threat of leaving the union so south carolina left the union. the reason why they said that they were going to leave is cause they probably thought that the republicains administration wouldn't protect there rights.
- they tried to make a plan to stop more of them from leaving the union so they come up with a plan as fast as they could. senator John Crittenden's plan was to protect slavery south of 36,30 line. almost all of the people from the northern states didn't agree to this plan even the leaders in the south didn't agree that it was fair. the reason why it wasn't fair is because they were promised no slavery was going to be extended.
