A long long time ago in a place called England, a man named James had an idea.
James knew that the jails in England were not very clean. Lots of good people were getting hurt because they could not pay money.
James went to the King. He told him his idea, and asked if he could have some land. King George thought that it was a good idea, but he wanted them to grow some plants and protect other people also. They wrote everything down on paper and called it the Charter of 1732. The new colony would be named Georgia, and 21 'trustees' would be in charge.
Charter of 1732 -No Slaves, Catholics, Lawers, or Liquor -Colonists must plant indigo, grapes, and mulberry trees -They must defend the land -They must obey all rules of the trustees
James found a buch of people who wanted to come over. They got on a big, big boat, and came to America.
He got people from Scotland, called the Highland Scots, who were good fighters to come and protect the people.
Jewish people wanted to come too. They were not safe where they lived, and they brought the 1st doctor to Georgia.
