  • Hello, Today we are going to talk about matter classification.
  • What are pure substances?
  • What is matter, you ask? There is 2 types of matter. Pure substances and mixtures.
  • A compound is made out of 2 or more elements.
  • Salt and Distilled water are Compounds.
  • Iron, Silver and Gold are Elements.
  • Here are some examples in my fridge; Gold , salt, distilled water and Iron.
  • A Pure Substance is a substance made out of 1 type of atoms or molucules. A pure substance is also made out of elements and compounds.
  • Mike isn't sure if lead is a compound or a element, what do you think?
  • I'm here with my friend Mike today, I asked him if lead is an Element or Compound. Let's see what he says.
  • I think lead is a compound. But i'm not sure.
  • A mixture has 2 or more atoms. There are 2 types, Homogenous and heterogenous. Here are some examples of Homogenous mixtures.
  • A homogenous mixture is an evenly mixed mixture. For example, Mixing water completely in water and it disolving evenly is a homogenous mixture.
  • Here are some examples of heterogeneous mixtures.
  • A heterogeneous mixture is a uneven mixture of atoms.
  • So what do think, is mixed tea with sugar a Homogenous or Heterogenous mixture.
  • Clara says that she thinks it’s a Homogenous mixture. What do you think?
  • I think it’s Homogenous mixture.
