  • Brutus' Speech-Ethos
  • "Believe me on my honor, and respect that honor so that you will believe me."
  • Brutus' Speech-Pathos
  • "It is not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more."
  • Brutus' Speech-Logos
  • "His death has been recorded in the Capitol. The glories he was worthy of in life have not been diminished, nor the wrongs for which he was killed been exaggerated."
  • Brutus talking about honor shows ethos because he keeps referring to himself as honorable. This is important because Brutus needs the credibility of the Roman people to help him get away with the murder of Caesar.
  • Antony's Speech-Ethos
  • "Caesar was my friend, faithful and just to me."
  • Brutus is using Pathos here because he is trying to appeal to the emotions of his audience. He knows his audience loves Rome because they are Romans, so he uses that to his advantage. He manipulates their thinking into believing that he did the dishonorable deed to better Rome.
  • Antony's Speech-Pathos
  • "...and I must pause until it returns to me" (he weeps).
  • Brutus used logistics of where Caesar was murdered to project Logos onto the crowd. Also, he glorified Caesars accomplishment and amplified his wrongs. Both hsi rights and wrongs were facts and statistics, displaying Logos.
  • Antony's Speech-Logos
  • When the poor would cry, Caesar would weep- ambition should be made of sterner stuff than that"
  • Antony uses Ethos in this line because he is using his credibility. He is displaying the Ethos because Antony is vocalizing that he was Caesars best friend, so he knew Caesar the best.
  • Antony uses Pathos to get the people on his side when he says this. Him crying appeals to the emotions of the large crowd standing before him. Antony pulls on the heartstrings of all the members of the crowd and before long, Pathos has them eating out of Antony's hand.
  • Antony says this to show the facts to his audience. Antony is trying to appeal with the good things that Caesar has done for them. Not necessarily trying to get into the emotional aspect, he is giving them factual information to persuade the audience member's minds into seeing Caesar through Antony's eyes.
