  • Hey,! Can you help me to understand the 5-Step Programming Process?
  • I don't understand a thing.
  • Sure! What do you not understand?
  • Here are the 5 basic steps:1. Identify the Problem2. Design the Solution3. Write the Program4. Test the Program5. Document and Maintain the Program
  • For step 1, ask yourself , "What is the goal?" If you do this, you will have figured out what you want the program to do before you began to work. This means that you are less likely to need to redo the program because it didn't turn out how you wanted it to.
  • In step 2, you should design the solution. Designing the solution involves splitting your problem into a bunch of small problems. These are called sub-problems. Then solve the problems. At this point, you should get the desired result for your program. If not, try again.
  • After step 3, begin step 4, which is debugging. When you check your program for errors it is called debugging. First, run your program. Next, read though your program searching for errors. Lastly, you plug real-world data into the program to make sure that it functions properly. This process uses Alpha and Beta testing.
  • For Step 3, write the program. Since you have figured out how to program it, now you need to decide which programming language you want to use to write the code and follow the language's syntax while programming.
  • I get it now.! Thanks for the help!
  • For step 5, you make comments in your code to document what you did so if and when you come back later you understand it.
