The ring will corrupt you Frodo. We must try to destroy it!
It is as I suspected. The Ring can only be destroyed where it was made. You must travel to Mount Doom in Mordor.
Gandalf informs Frodo that he has the One Ring (acanthamoeba), and that Bilbo stole it from Smeagol (another hobbit), who found it in a river. (acanthamoeba is found in fresh water and soil, NOT transmitted from person to person) If Frodo is in possession of the Ring for too long, it will blind him to the real world and use him as a force for Sauron, the dark lord.
Frodo and Gandalf attempt to destroy the ring, but the fire is unable to melt or even damage it slightly. (Acanthamoeba forms cysts which makes it nearly impossible to kill)
Help us get to Mount Doom! The Ring is still affecting you, and Frodo is fading, we must destroy the Ring to save him!
Fine, but no traveling when the Yellow Face is out, it hurts our eyeses!
Frodo, Sam, Pippin, Merry, and Bill (the pony) leave the Shire and set out for Mordor. Frodo is the only one who carries the Ring.
Antiseptic
As Frodo and Sam get closer to Mordor, Frodo begins to experience symptoms as he continues to wear the Ring. His vision goes blurry and his eyes hurt when exposed to light, as the Ring is corrupting him. Sometimes he sees Ring Wraiths (previous victims of the Ring), as he is growing closer to them because of the Ring. Smeagol also begins to follow them.
Sam and Frodo arrive in Mordor and they capture Gollum/Smeagol, and use him to help them navigate, as he knows how to get to the volcano. They see that he too has been corrupted by the Ring, but he had the Ring for longer, so he is almost dead.
They make it to Mount Doom, but Gollum's eyesight is so blurry that he slips and falls into the lava, and the Ring melts and is destroyed. Frodo is cured by exposure to the lava (antiseptic), but it takes him many months to fully recover from the affects of the Ring and difficult journey. *Avoid Gollum's fate by drinking and swimming in clean water, keeping contact cases clean if you wear them, and taking them out before showering or swimming
