  • Roaring 20's
  • wow! this really is the roaring 20s! i can buy everything i want with this trusty credit!
  • Stock Market
  • i'm getting richer and richer with this stock market, too! i'll never go poor!
  • Stock Market Crash
  • things haven't been the same since the stock market crashed........... we have double the debt because of buying stock on margin.
  • i lost everything. i can't even count how much debt i have in thousands.
  • During the Roaring 20s, people could buy everything they couldn't get before with credit.
  • Food Courts
  • i got to the food court everyday to cheer people up, but everybody looks like ghosts.... i don't blame them. it's a horrible time for everybody.
  • Many people bought from the stock market, which only grew and grew. Additionally, some people bought the stocks on margin, which is just with credit.
  • President Hoover
  • meanwhile, president hoover has been sitting on his hiney and doing nothing about our suffering.
  • After the Stock Market crashed, the entire economy became poor. Those who bought things on credit became even poorer as they had to pay back both the debts to the Stock Market and the debts to the people they were loaned money from.
  • President FDR
  • but i have hope....... roosevelt is running for president, and i think he'll really help us all!
  • Most people were in deep poverty, and didn't even have enough to eat! Food courts were then established, but even then, one family had to share a loaf of bread for a week before they could get another one...
  • And he wouldn't be wrong. President Hoover had a "Laissez-Faire" (Hands off!) policy for the government, and believed that the federal government shouldn't get involved. So he technically didn't do anything about the Depression.
  • rugged individualism?! pushaw! i don't even have enough money to get water.
  • Roosevelt was the person that everybody depended on during this time. His unique approach on the Depression made him highly favored by the poor.
  • whenever someone talks about him, they have a smile on their face. everybody believes that he could change the depression!!!!!!!!!!!!
