- Hello, I'm a fish. A little while ago I was taking a swim when I met a kind girl named Yeh-Shen. We began to become friends and every day we became closer. Now we are wonderful friends and she brings me food every day! Yeh-Shen and I have been having a great time together, but she has an evil stepmother who is always making her do work.
- I better go, see you later fish.
- Yeh-Shen, go chop some wood for me! Oh, and leave your coat, I would hate to be seen as the neighbor with the dirty daughter!
- Once Yeh-Shen left I felt lonely, but I knew she would be back for a while. Then, I saw her coat and I was so confused by how fast she could chop that wood. That didn't matter though because I was just excited she was back.
- Oh! Yeh-Shen, you're back so soon! I was waiting for you.
- I thought that that was Yeh-Shen until I saw the pink skirt of her stepmother! She was saying that she is mad that Yeh-Shen kept a secret from her and is going to kill me as a punishment to Yeh-Shen! I feel this awful pain hit me and then I realise it's a knife!
- I can't believe Yeh-Shen could lie to me about this! She deserves a punishment, so I will take away her only friend!
- I'm very happy you can go, but you must know that you can't lose anything you are wearing.
- After I died, my spirit lived on in my bones. This is very cool because I can grant Yeh-Shen any wish she wants. Today, Yeh-Shen told me about a festival and how much she wants to go. She asked me if there is anything I can do to help her go so, I gave her a beautiful dress and golden shoes so her Step Mother and Step sister don't recognize her, but if she were to lose any thing I gave her I would no longer speak to her or gift her with my powers
- Wow! Thank you so much fish, this dress is beautiful, and so are these shoes! I have never worn anything this nice.
- When Yeh-Shen got back I realised she was in her old clothes and the beautiful things I had given her were gone. I was wondering why and then I was that she only had one of the beautiful golden shoes in her hand. I knew that she lost it and I could not speak to her any longer, but if she finds the shoe that will change.
- Please fish, I'm so sorry I lost the shoe. I just need you to talk to me.
- I felt very bad that I could not talk to or help Yeh-Shen but, I keep my word. After sitting around for a while without Yeh-Shen I saw her happily skipping with two golden shoes! I was very happy to see that she found them and we could go back to how things used to be.
- Look! I found the shoes. I found them at the kings pavilion and he wants to marry me, we can live in a castle together and you can come!
- I would love that Yeh-Shen. We can finally get away from your evil stepmother and live in peace.
