Storyboard Text

  • New settlers to collaborate, trade with and share religious ideas with
  • When the New england Colonist First settled there was no promblems and many of them adopted christianity from the colonist
  • Im going to end whoever did this
  • The natives traded with the colonist even though the colonist were taking advantage of them
  • The colonist even taught the Natives christianity, which they willingly adopted. Specifically, they converted the Wampanoag Tribe.
  • Things started getting uneasy when Governor Josiah Winslow who was the Governor of the Plymouth colony at the time, found one of his men murdered by members of the Wampanoag Tribe
  • Josiah killed the three suspects and Metacom (King Philip) and his men were outraged.
  • Where did he go....?
  • The War officially started in 1865 when Metacom and the Wampanoag ambushed Massachusettes.
  • The first event in the war was when Metacom and his people raided Swansea +in Massachusetts. They burned houses and took goods as the colonist evacuated.
  • Shortly after the colonist stormed Metacom's base to get even, but Metacom was nowhere to be found.
  • The tribe continued to assault the colonist especially when they were on wagon trails.
  • The first major battle was in September 1675 in which 100s of Natives ambushed a wagon train which started the Battle of Bloody Creek where the Natives won.
  • Next was the Great Swamp Fight where both Metacom and the Colonists had 1000 soldiers yet the Colonists overpowered the native
  • After a year of constant battles, the Natives were tired and got many diseases and they became weak.
  • The ending of Metacom's war was in August 1676 in a battle where Indian under the colonist control shot Metacom, killing him.
  • The Victory for the colonist proved their power as a whole and united them together.
  • Most importantly, Metacom's War was a huge factor that led into the American Revolution. Metacom's war brought a sense of unity to the colonists, showing them what they are capable of.
