- In 1519 Pineda became the first Spanish to observe the coast of Texas. But sadly he did not finish his mission. his boat had been attacked by Cortes
- Reasons for Exploration
- We come to Spread God and find Gold, and to recive GLORY
- He wss sent from Cuba from the governor. The aztecs who viewed them as gods because of their horses and riches. During this they overthrew that aztecs and used their land as a base for the Spanish.
- Coronado
- The land of gold is not to be found
- In 1529 they were exploring Florida, after they left to get supplies during this they had gotten shipwrecked and the Karankawa Indians had given them shelter/food. Many of the spaniards died from the harsh weather. They left telling stories about the city of gold.
- La Salle
- Most of the Spaniards who traveled to the new world were in seach for 3 things. Gold, God, Glory
- In 1540, Coronado and his men went to search for the land of gold, they looked all the way into Kansas and still di not find it.
- In 1685, La salle the famous french explorer had arrived in Texas. He and his men had established a French colony by the Mississippi River.On his way to get supplies he was Overthrown/attacked by his men.
