  • what is an intellectual property and how can it benefit me?
  • An Intellectual Property is a form of protections placed upon new creations , one benefit provided would be something like maybe you had a logo design you didn't want someone else using, through the intellectual properties your logo would be protected from said usage against your permission.
  • ok, so what are the few types?
  • the patent is important because it protects devices that would make a true change to the world, protecting true creative innovation and not just any old idea
  • for starters we have copyright, it provides creators with protections for their works, so if you had a story you made it would prevent others from stealing it.
  • Then we have a Patent, which is an exclusive right granted for an invention, this would make it so an invention you make is your own limiting other places from recreating the exact same device for 20 years
  • lastly a trademark is a type of intellectual property consisting of a recognizable sign, design, or expression that identifies a product or service from a particular source and distinguishes it from others. The different types applicable would be Generic, descriptive, suggestive and Arbitrary. to apply for one you send a application to the national or regional trademark office and the extent of protection is worldwide.
