  • In Japan there was a thing called heian court.so what was political life in heian court? In heian court Heian-kyo was of the greatest benefit to court officials and their families, perhaps 3,000 people in all. Officials in China were chosen by exam,important posts in Japan were handed out based on family.The Heian rulers and government officials admired the Chinese and sought to be like them in every way. Buddhism Chinese writing, and the Chinese system of government were only the first ideas and practice they adopted from the Chinese.
  • Along with swordsmanship, archery, and other martial arts, samurai were expected to cultivate skills in painting, flower arranging, calligraphy (handwriting), and a board game called go. Poetry contests were held in every daimyos court, and in the shoguns too. In fact, poetry contests were a pastime of the working classes as well as the samurai.

  • A haiku is a poem in 17 syllables, divided into three lines of five, seven, and five syllables. Haiku usually expresses feelings about a season or another aspect of nature. Chances are you have seen a haiku before and may have been reading them since a young age. You may have even written a few. What is often an elementary school exercise in some countries is an ancient and very serious art form in Japan.
