  • Climax
  • These are the two main characters in the story. To the left, we have Montresor, who is secretly planning revenge. Opposite of that, we have Fortuano on the right. Montresor is secretly planning revenge on Fortuano because he has insulted him many times. He has also kept his composure the whole time.
  • Falling Action
  • Montresor gets Fortuano to meet up with him one late evening at the town carnival. He then attempts to lure Fortuano to his catacombs with the bribe of amontillado, or wine. This is in hopes that he can get his revenge on him in a secluded location
  • Resolution
  • Montresor successfully lures Fortuano into his catacombs and chains him to a wall. Then he starts building a wall around Fortuano while he can do nothing about it. He is doing this for revenge on everything Fortuano has done to him.
  • Montresor finishes sealing him up and leaves the catacombs. He successfully has gotten his revenge on Fortuano. No one will be able to find him here he will be left to rot and die inside of the wall.
  • Montresor must now find some way to safely escape the town. He leaves the catacombs and the town to never come back again.
