  • Hosting a party, having a board game night with the neighbors, or even going to church is all freedom of assembly examples. The difference, however, is that freedom of assembly protects those who the government believes may “cause trouble” when they get are together.
  • Freedom of speech is a law that supports the freedom of an individual or a community to pronounce their beliefs and thoughts without fear of retaliation, censorship, or legal sanction. Freedom of speech is not absolute. For example, there are limitations, because you are not knowingly allowed to make false statements or publish those statements to damage someone's character or their reputation.
