- Jepthah's brothers drove him away because his Mother was a prostitute. He decided to flee to Tob.
- You are not going to get any inheritance in our family because you are the son of another woman.
- Some time later...
- Come with us to fight the Ammonites, and you will be head of all of use who lived in Gilead.
- I will send messengers to the Ammonite King.
- The elders of Gilead came to Tob to find Jepthah.
- What do you have against me that you have attacked my country?
- When Israel came up out of Egypt, they took away my land from the Arnon to the Jabbok., all the way to the Jordan. Now give it back peacefully.
- If you give the Ammonites into my hands, whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the Lord’s, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.
- Jepthah defeated the Amorites in God's hands.
- Just grant me one final wish. Give me two moths to roam the hills and weep with my friends, for I shall never marry.
- Oh no, my daughter! You have brought me down and I am devastated. I have made a vow to the Lord that I cannot break
- Jepthah granted her wish and then did as promised.
