  • The Falling Action of the story happens when the Narrator decides to train Doodle to do more normal things, like swimming, climbing, running, and rowing. The Narrator is teaching Doodle to row when a large storm hits them, and they go to shore. They both start running for their home, but Doodle trips and falls. The Narrator leaves him, thinking that he would just get up and keep going.
  • The Resolution of The Scarlet Ibis happens when the Narrator Turns back to notice that Doodle is nowhere to be seen. He waits for a few minutes before going out to look for his brother. He finds his brother dead near a large rock, and starts to mourn for him. The Narrator realizes that Doodle was like the Scarlet ibis in the fact that they both weren't suited for the environment that they found themselves in.
