- The Dream
- An Opportunity

- Acceptance
- Me and my friends have always enjoyed astronomy. My name is Oliver. I’m in the middle of my two best friends William and Ryan. William is on the left. He is the smartest one in the group. Ryan is the one on the right. He is the glue that keeps this group together.
- Preparation
- We have always dreamed about going to space. To reach the stars would be truly life-changing. One day we actually got this opportunity. At school William saw a poster. “Oliver, Ryan, look!” exclaimed William. “That’s a poster for a space program,” said Ryan. “This is our chance to actually go to space. Our dreams could actually become a reality!” Exclaimed Oliver.
- A Lie
- Oliver, William, and Ryan all applied to the space program. They were all eager to know if they got in. A week later, they all received envelopes in the mail. “Did you get in?” Said Oliver. “I got in!” Said William. “I got in too!” Said Oliver. How about you Ryan?” Said Oliver. “What about me?” Said Ryan. “Did you get in?” Said Oliver. “Yeah, of course I got in.” Said Ryan in disbelief.
- The truth
- The people that are accepted to the space program get to go to the international space station. As Oliver, William, and Ryan prepared to go, Ryan sat on his front porch thinking back to himself. “I’m going to have to tell them sooner or later. They deserve to know.” Thought Ryan. As Oliver and William prepared to go, they were approached by Ryan. “Hey guys, how’s it going?” Said Ryan. Great, I just finished packing my bag. It’s going to be so much fun when we get there!” Said William.
- “We should probably go now if we want to get there on time,” said Oliver. Oliver and William were about to leave when they noticed that Ryan wasn’t coming. Oliver asked, “Aren’t you coming, Ryan?” “That’s why I’m here. I didn’t get accepted into the space program,” replied Ryan with guilt. Oliver and William were astonished! “You told us you got in. Why would you lie,” asked William. “I was embarrassed and I thought you would see me differently if I didn’t make the space program,” Responded Ryan.
- “I would never see you differently if you did or didn’t make the space program. Your my best friend and nothing is going to change that,” said Oliver. “We wouldn’t let this space program come in between our friendship. I would rather stay here with you than go to the space program,” said William. “Yeah me too,” replied Oliver with forgiveness. “This has been your dream ever since we were kids. You would give all that up for me.” Said Ryan. If it meant that I would get to stay here with you, then yes.” Replied Oliver. As Oliver, William, and Ryan all hugged, they knew that they weren’t going to the space program, but at least they still had each other.
