  • Slide: 1
  • How are my favorite girls doing??
  • We're doing great mom!
  • Good to hear! Let's order some lunch.
  • Ashley is meeting her mother Loretta for lunch after having her baby girl Marley.
  • Slide: 2
  • So how has Marley been? Is she sleeping and feeding okay?
  • She's doing good. She's breastfeeding no problem. Her sleep is actually doing well!
  • is she co-sleeping or sleeping in a bassinet?
  • We're actually co-sleep right now. At least until she's around 3 months.
  • According to an article from the Willey Black Encyclopedia of Family Studies, it has many advantages like easy breastfeeding, stronger relationships and lower risk of SIDS
  • I actually don't think that is a good idea. If you were to read that article further down it explains that co-sleeping has many disadvantages.
  • After ordering food, they begin to talk about Marley specifically
  • Slide: 3
  • Like what exactly?
  • I can't list all of them but the top 3 are 1. It affects the baby's sleep schedule. This can make the baby more reluctant to sleep through the night. 2. It can create excessive dependence of the baby on the parent. 3. The American Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend co-sleeping because it heightens the risk of suffocation and strangulation which is a cause of SUID.
  • I didn't know that! Thank you, Mom. Those disadvantages outweigh the advantages. I'm going to transition her to a bassinet.
