- Hannibal lays siege to Saguntum, an ally of Rome. Rome responds by declaring war with Carthage, Hannibal's hometown, and the Carthage Empire.

- Hannibal, along with 90,000-foot soldiers, 12,000 cavalry, and 87 elephants, left Carthage crossed large rivers, the Pyrenese mountains, and the Alps to get to northern Italy.

- Hannibal decided to attack smaller outposts to terrorize Rome, and then a year later he attacked the supply depot Cannae even though he was outnumbered 30,000 to 100,000.

- After 15 years of Hannibal messing with Rome, Rome finally decided to attack Carthage while Hannibal and his men weren't there to save the day.

- Carthage had to be taken over by the Romans twice to finally be diminished. Now Carthage was under Roman rule and had to pay terms for peace. Hannibal would stay and terrorize Rome until he was 64. He then ended his own life by poison.
