- This scene is based on the end of act two. The girl on the floor is Elizabeth Proctor while the man blocking with the red hair is John proctor. Those two men attacking John and Elizabeth are Herrick and a police officer. The man in the back is John Hale. John Hale is looking down because he didn't know his appearance would end up with Elizabeth getting arrested. Elizabeth is getting arrested because she got accused by Abigail of being a witch. Abigail accused Elizabeth because Abby is in love with john Proctor and wants to take him from her. Finally, John is blocking the guards from Elizabeth because he doesn't think its fair that she is getting arrested.
