  • brown v. board of education was a civil rights act where the supreme court decided that racial segregation in schools was unconstitutional. it overruled Plessy v. Ferguson and allowed non-white students to go to school with white students.

  • the montgomery bus boycott was a civil rights act where black people boycotted using public transportation to protest against racial segregation on public transportation. since black citizens mainly used public transportation, the boycott worked as the bus company began losing money.
