  • The Montgomery Bus Boycott happened on December 5, 1955. The Boycott was a political and social protest against racial segregation on the public transportation system.
  • Brown v. Board of Education
  • The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was on August 6, 1965 was used to overcome legal barriers that prevented African Americans their right to vote.
  • Little Rock Nine
  • The March on Washington was an event that took place on August 28, 1963. The March on Washing was for jobs and freedom. Over 200,000 people came to the nations capitol to protest racist discrimination and to support the civil rights legislation
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964
  • The Brown v. Board of Education was on May 17, 1954. The supreme court ruled that schools will no longer be separated. Only separated by choice but not legally.
  • On September 25, 1957, the Little Rock Nine were the first nine black students to go to Little Rock Central High school. An all white school. White students refused to go to the same school as them, and adults protested outside to try and keep them out.
