- They continue to go deeper under the house. Monstesor offers Fortunato more wine to clear his throat as he continues to keep coughing. Unfortunately, Forunato does not realize what is taking place. He continues to follow his "trustworthy" friend due to his desire of wanting the rich Spanish wine.

- WHY? JUST WHY? WHAT DID I DO TO YOU DEAR FRIEND?
- As they made it further in the vaults, Monstresor encourages Forunato to touch and inspect the walls full of human remains. When doing so, Monstresor sneakingly shackles Fortunato. He begins to cry as his drunkness has begun to wear off. He is coming to his senses, yet it is too late. In the process of Fortunato crying , Monstresor begins to rebuild the wall, trapping his old friend in

- Monstrsor completes his deed , yet he feels a bit of regret. However, he realizes that Fortunato had wronged him in the past multiple times. Before he completely fnishes, he throws his old mate a lit torch. There was no response given, just sounds of bells from Fortunatos hat
