Storyboard Text

  • William Armstrong was born, but expected not to live. He did live but would not be there completely.
  • I'll call him doodle, no one expects much from someone named doodle.
  • Doodle and his brother would eventually do a lot together. Since Doodle could not use is legs, his brother carried him alongside in a cart wherever he would go.
  • One day down at Old Women Swamp, Doodle's brother decided to teach him to walk so he wouldn't be different from other kids or "embarrassing". He chose to do so out of his own personal gain rather than simply the respect of his brother.
  • With consistent training, Doodle learned to walk.
  • One day, Doodle's family gathered for lunch and they heard an unusual croaking coming from outside. A rare bird called the Scarlet Ibis fell to the ground from the bleeding tree and lay there dead. Doodle buried the bird.
  • Later, when the boys were at the swamp, it began to storm and they rushed home. Doodle was not strong enough to handle the struggle home. He called for his brothers help but when there was no response in time, it was too late and Doodle died.
  • "RUN!"
