  • He'll be back don't worry
  • he isn't here
  • It was mid-summer like any other day. My parents were watching TV while our pet dog was sitting by the door, my brother playing outside with the neighbor's kid, and me in my room watching a random YouTube video I found. Everything was calm until I heard the front door being slammed shut. As the curious person I am I went to go check what was all the commotion. My mom was in the living room looking out the window, apparently our dog got out. You see we never really took out our dog, so we kept him mostly as an inside dog so once my brother was coming in he got out from there. I asked if we should go after him, but my mom said no and “He’ll turn up later”
  • He never showed up though and as someone who was very close to our dog I forced my parents to look for him, and so we looked almosteverywhere for him, but we just couldn’t find him anywhere.
  • . It was morning when my mom, aunt and I went to the shelter in my mind, I had a feeling we weren’t going to find him. As the worker led us to the dogs, I could hear a cry that sounded like his, but I thought it was just some other random dog and kept walking.
  • We walked around to find him but... nothing. At that point I gave up but kept walking to the end of the row and I looked down and saw a familiar white tail. I called out his name and knew for sure it was him.
  • Honestly, this experience did not change me that much. I guess now that I'm older once my dog gets out, I don’t worry as much, but I still think back to that time and laugh. What I learned was not to worry and take my future pets on walks.
  • Now that I’m older when he gets out, I do worry a little but not as much. I just usually ask if he had at least his tag. My brother actually he’s the one that worries now.
