- We find our main character Rainsford on a boat on his way to hunt.
- Climax
- He hears gunshots off in the distance and gets closer to the edge of the boat to try find where it came from. Rainsford finds out the gunshot came from an island and goes to the edge of the boat and falls off by accident after trying to catch the cigar that fell out of his mouth.
- Falling Action
- Rainford swam to the island and looks for any sign of human life.
- Resolution
- Rainsford finds a professional hunter in a mansion, he talks with the hunter, who's name is General Zaroff, Rainsford finds out Zaroff hunts men who end up on the island and tells Rainsford he has to survive 3 days and if he does he will live and be taken to the nearest city. If he is found however he will be killed. Rainsford has no option but to accept the hunt.
- Zaroff hints to Rainsford that he sees him up in a tree by blowing a cloud of smoke in his direction, he feels as if he found him to soon and goes back home to rest.
- Rainsford survives the 3 days by running from Zaroff and killing one of his hunting dogs. Rainsford sneaks into Zaroff's bedroom to kill him to ends his murderous ways once and for all.
