Lizabeth, Joey, and the group of kids hung out near a tree together. One of the kids had the idea of going to Miss Lottie's house to mess with John Burke and Miss Lottie's marigolds.
Climax: Destruction of the Marigolds

Once the group got to Miss Lottie's house, they started to throw rocks at the Marigolds and started harassing Miss Lottie.
Falling Action: Lizabeth Gets Caught
After Lizabeth and Joey got home and went to bed, Lizabeth overheard a conversation between her parents about her father's struggles at finding a job during the Great Depression.
Resolution
Out of fear and anger, Lizabeth dragged Joey along to Miss Lottie's house and started destroying and trampling the beautiful flowers. Joey was attempting to stop Lizabeth, but failed.
After Lizabeth was done letting her anger out on the flowers, Miss Lottie stood over them in absolute devastation. Lizabeth finally understanding what she did, she became guilty of her actions, and learned from her mistakes.
Years after the event, Lizabeth tells of the story of Miss Lottie's Marigolds, and plants some herself in Miss Lottie's honor.
