The story, Marigolds, takes place during the Great Depression. The main character, Lizabeth, lives in a small town with her, her little brother, Joey, and her parents.
Climax

One day Lizabeth, joey and her friend came across Miss. Lotties backyard. They had saw that she planted new flowers for herself. They thought it would be a good idea to throw rocks at them. Since then, it was fun to annoy Miss Lottie.
Falling Action
Later that night, while Lizabeth and her brother were about to sleep, Lizabeth woke up to the sound of her mothers voice talking with her father when she came from work. Moments later she hears her parents argue about not having enough money. Hearing the argument, Lizabeth then gets upset.
Resolution
She then had started getting ready to go out and woke up Joey to go with her. He had followed Lizabeth to Miss. lottie's backyard not knowing what was going on. Until Lizabeth started destroying her flowers. Joey had tried to stop her but she ignored. She then stopped to see what she's done to Miss Lottie's flowers.
Then a big shadow had came. Lizabeth looked up to see that it was Miss Lottie. Lizabeth knowing that there isn't no turning back. All the flowers had now been destroyed. Nothing was left
Later, Lizabeth had realized that the only thing keeping Miss. Lottie happy was her flowers. Her marigolds. But they are all gone. The only thing that had kept her happy and brought joy had now all been destroyed.
