- The Enlightenment included a range of ideas centered on the value of human happiness, the pursuit of knowledge obtained by means of reason and the evidence of the senses, and ideals such as natural law, liberty, progress, toleration, fraternity, constitutional government, and separation of church and state.
- the steps toward revolution are simple first first it starts with people getting mad about things that are going on, then they start getting together making plans and relaying on others to join. there is usually a bunch of protests or actions to shake things up. then it catches on and other people join and they all want to do something and finally they have enough people and power to rebell
- The Articles of Confederation were the first 'rules' for the United States, kind of like a first attempt at a rulebook. It was all about giving the states a lot of power and not so much to the central government. But it was pretty weak in getting things done on a national level, which is why it eventually got replaced by the US Constitution. It was a stepping stone to figuring out the best way to run the country!
- the declaration of independence was like a breakup letter to the king of England. it said the american colonies wanted to be their own country, listing all the reasons why they were fed up with british rule. its famous for saying that every one has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
- The ratification of the Constitution was when the states had to decide whether or not to approve it. Each state held special conventions to debate and vote on whether to accept the Constitution. It was a big deal because it determined whether the Constitution would become the supreme law of the land. Eventually, enough states ratified it, and that's how we got the Constitution that we know today!
- The Constitutional Convention was like a big meeting where representatives from the original 13 states got together to create a new plan for how the United States should be governed. They were trying to fix the issues with the Articles of Confederation and come up with a stronger framework for the country. They debated and discussed for months, and in the end, they came up with the U.S. Constitution, which is the foundation of our government today. It was a pretty important moment in American history!
