- Antony is again pointing out the flaws in Brutus logic and alleged statements of how ambitions would take control of Cesar. He uses facts something that there are witness to see and people can deny that they didn’t see it yet at the end of the day deep down they know they saw it and it is true that if Cesar was so ambitious why would he turn the crown down not only once but three times.
- You all saw that on the Lupercal feast day I offered him a king’s crown three times, and he refused it three times. Was this ambition?Act III Scene II Page IV
- PATHOS
- Not only is antony stil “trying to protect” the conspirators but he is stirring the pot with his reverse phycology along with pulling the emotions of people by saying that maybe there was an unknown factor that played into their actions that everyine is unaware of yet he did nothing directly to the citizens ever other than attempting to protect them.
- Good friends, sweet friends, don’t let me stir you up to such a sudden mutiny. Those who have done this deed are honorable. I don’t know what private grudges they had that made them do it. Act III Scene II Page IX
- Ethos
- This is ethos because Cesar is using his popularity, name, and accomplishments as leverage to try to convince him why would he be lying to them. He says why would he lie to olde men when hes been through so much.
- Would I send a lie? Have I accomplished so much in battle, but now I’m afraid to tell some old men the truth?Act II Scene II Page III
