- Athenian Democracy
- This is where us Athens live, Greece! A law that us Athens used to have was that a citizen (like me), couldn't vote until our age was over 18 . We also created the concept of a Democracy. This is also the case with your US government.
- Wow, I didn't know this. Thank you for telling me. Now, if you will excuse me, I've got a time machine to catch to get back to the future.
- US Democracy
- I agree, and a law that was different in Rome and United States was that in Rome, people are innocent until evidence proves them guilty. In the United States, however, you are guilty until evidence proves you are innocent.
- The US Democracy is like the Roman Democracy in a few ways. and one of them is the Roman Government having branches of government just like the US government.
- Roman Republic
- Like your Roman Republic, our Athenian Democracy also do not allow women to vote.
- Our Roman Republic does not allow women to vote and they had very little rights, like your democracy says.
- In Athenian Democracy, citizens couldn't vote until they were over the age of 18. In the US, citizens are also not allowed to vote until they are over 18. This is one similarity between the Athenian Democracy and the US Democracy.
- In the Roman Republic, the laws above were two major laws which are similar and different to the ones in the US government today. The law about the Roman Republic having branches of government like the US is a similarity. The law about trials which is you are innocent until evidence proves you are guilty is in Rome. The law that you are guilty until evidence prove you are innocent is in the US.
- In Athenian Democracy, women had no right to vote. This is also the case with the Roman Republic where women had no right to vote and very few basic rights. This is one law that is similar between the Roman Republic and the Athenian Democracy.
