Sampson and Gregory find Abram and another servant in the street, and decide to bite their thumb at his as a sign of disrespect. This starts a huge fight in the streets with servants everywhere joining in. Benvolio sees the fight and attempts to break it up using his sword, but ends up getting in a fight with Tybalt instead. The fight finally ends when the Prince comes into the street and ridicules them.

Juliet, the nurse, and Lady Capulet are getting ready for the ball later, when the nurse and Lady Capulet bring up the fact that Juliet hasn't been married yet, and how at her age other girls have already had kids. They then bring up Paris, a suitor, and Juliet doesn't seem too interested. She also makes it clear she isn't interested in marriage when she says , 'It is an honor that I do not dream of.'
