Storyboard Text

  • Before the famous author, Mark Twain, became an author, he was first a cub pilot on a steam boat. He loved his job, but the one thing he hated about it was the nasty captain, Brown, that he worked under. This captain would call out even his smallest faults, and according to Brown, he could never do anything right.
  • One day, when Brown claimed that Twain's brother did not deliver a piece of information to him, although he did, Brown picked up a piece of coal and was about to throw it at Twain's brother. Before it could hit him, Twain knocked the captain down with a stool and continually beat him with it. Although Twain knew that assaulting the captain while on duty was illegal, he did it anyway.
  • When the head captain found out about what he had done and asked to speak with him, Twain expected to be severely punished. Instead, the captain applauded Twain for what he had done and agreed that the captain deserved it. He also proceeded to kick Brown off the ship, telling Twain to beat him again after getting on shore.
