  • This what it was like along time ago when people belived everything they heard on radiio and newspapers.
  • My fellow Americans , I had nothing to do with the Watergate break-in.
  • He's got my vote

  • In the early days of newspapers and radio, people had so much trust in it they would believe everything and anything. They had trust in every word that came from a politician. But that trust was short lasted.
  • President Nixons was completely behind the Watergate break-in.
  • In August 1974, the Democratic Party offices, located in the Watergate building, were broken into. President Nixon and his staff desperately tried to cover up the break-in.

  • He managed to keep his name out of the scandal and was re-elected in November 1972. The people had so much trust in Nixon and his word and no one thought two journalists could crack the case.
  • At the Washington post headquarters
  • Two reporters for the Washington Post newspaper,, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, were investigating the burglary. They had an anonymous tip from a source named "Deep Throat".
  • The two reporters broke the story and investigators discovered the tapes of all Nixon's conversations that became the "smoking gun".
  • Trust in the media and politicians forever changed when Nixon lied on TV to the American people, only to be proven guilty by Burnstein and Woodward.
