Storyboard Text

  • Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie departed their estate and traveled to Sarajevo on June 23 to inspect the imperial armed forced in Bosnia and Herzegovin. They arrived by train the next morning of 25th June 1914.
  • When it was announced Franz Ferdinand was going to visit Sarajevo, 7 young Bosnian Serbs who believed the territories should be part of Serbia were part of the nationalist 'blank hand' and planned to assassinate Franz Ferdinand before killed themselves.
  • On June 28th 1914, Franz Ferdinand and his wife was in a small caravan of cars going through the town of Sarajevo, meanwhile the 7 teenagers were placed along the intervals of the route equipped with pistols and bombs, and poison which they promised to swallow if caught.
  • At 10:15, the cars passed Mehmed Basic, the first assassin in line. However the assasin didn't realize they were passing and did not do anything.
  • The first attempted assassination was Cabrilovic. As the cars passed, he threw his bomb at the car, however the bomb bounced off the car and exploded under the vehicle behind, injuring two army officers and serveral bystanders who were in the next car.
  • Rather than fleeing Sarajevo, Ferdinand decided to continue on to the planned event at city hall. Upon finishing that, he also insisted on visiting the wounded officers in the hospital.
