Thor and Loki were traveling across the world on a chariot pulled by goats to take part in adventures.
When they found a small house where they wanted to stay at.
The pair was greeted kindly by the villagers but they were poor and had no food.
Thor said not to worry because he would provide food by killing his goats and having them prepared and made into food. He told the villagers they could eat as much as they wanted as long as they left the bones alone.
However, Loki wanted to cause mischief and went over to a young man named Thjalfi and said that it wasn't fair that Thor got to keep the marrow for himself when it would give strength to whoever consumed it. Thjalfi now wanted to try the marrow and waited until everyone was asleep and broke open on of the bones to eat it.
Thor then completed a ritual to bring the goats back to life but one of them had a broken leg where its bone had broken. Thor was furious that the villagers had betrayed him after he gave them food. Loki hid a smile as Thjalfi, regretting his actions, confessed to Thor. When Thor threatened Thjalfi's family the boy said to take himself as Thor's slave instead of his punishing family to make amends for his mistake. Thor agreed and Loki. Thjalfi, and himself departed to continue their journey.
