  • Thomas and Ann Farrow were found murdered in their shop after 16-year-old William Jones found them. Fingerprints were found in an empty cash box which was then sent to Scotland Yard's Fingerprinting Bureau. The print was compared with many sets but no match was found. Witnesses claimed to have seen two men leaving the show the morning of the murder who were later identified as Alfred and Albert Stratton. After an investigation and a fingerprint match, both Srattron brothers were convicted.
  • After a trial and over 40 witnesses called to the stand, the technique was not yet trusted by the public nor the jury. Detective Inspector Collins explained how he had never found 2 prints that are same with the over 800,000+ prints on file. this convinced the jury and in May of 1905, the brothers were charged with murder and sentenced to be hung.
