  • Sam, it's been so long! But I thought you... I thought you were still in California.
  • I know, but I had a weekend off and figured I'd catch a plane to visit you!
  • A few minutes later...
  • So, how is the city life treating you?
  • If I'm being honest, I'm feeling disappointed. It was all exciting at first, but now everything just seems so drab and monotonous.
  • Hmm... I just might know why. How about we talk over lunch?
  • What about the Empire State Building? You were so excited to finally see it in person.
  • That's the funny thing. I've been there so many times now, it just feels like any other building. Nothing's interesting anymore, and I don't know how to get that excitement back.

  • No way! Three thousand? How in the world did they manage to direct so many workers?
  • It's not so interesting if you only focus on the surface of everything—I think you lost touch with all of New York's fascinating history.
