- (1) "There's nothing dumber than a dumb cop. If they were so smart, they wouldn't be be working on Christmas day, would they?"
- (5) "Course I'm here. Show yourself."
- (3) "You hush up, boy, and let me think."
- (2) "No, sir."

- (1) "They came right up to my door looking for the boy. I told 'em to get a search warrant, but I let 'em look from the door, satisfy 'em you weren't there."
- (2) "They believe you?"
- (4) "Did you turn on me? Is that why they came here out of every place in town?"
- (3) "Who knows??"
- (6) "What midget kid? You think I'll believe that?"
- (5) "It was that crippled midget kid. He was in the car. It must have been him."
- (8) "Well? What's your story?"
- (7) "Ask him about his midget friend. They stole Loretta's purse, that's how they know this place. That's the God's honest truth."

- (1) "We didn't steal it. We just brought it back."
- (3) "The crippled kid belongs to Gwen. Remember her? Loretta says her and your wife were pals."
- (7) "Yes, sir, I do."
- (5) "Sure, no problem."
- (4) "It doesn't matter. No matter how they got onto you, they did. Now, I need two things: a firearm, something small but functional, and transportation. Don't care what as long as it runs. Can you do that for me?"
- (6) "You have more sense than to waste your time stealing with a cripple. You can't trust them, but I guess you know that now, don't you?"
- Every now and then Iggy sneaks a look at me like he's trying to tell me something with his eyes, but I can't figure out what.
- (6) "Then do it, and do it quick."
