Martin Luther was born in Eisleben on the 10th of November 1483,he went to latin school in Mansfeld where strict teaching still reigned. when he was older he also joined the augustian order
when luther realised the abuses of the catholic church, he nailed 95 theses to the doors of the church, in return he received a papal bull excomunicating him but he burned it in public,later relying on frederick the duke of saxonys protection he wrote and published new attacks on the catholic faith.the pope launched a more sever papal bull against luther and his supporters ,as protest luther burned all the books on church law he could find in public.
martin luther was called to the diet of worms by charles the 5th as per the popes request. he appeared before the emperor and german princes, luther spoke before the diet of worms refusing to withdraw his ideas.so he was banished.
whilst Luther was walking home he was captured by the soldiers of Frederick the wise, elector of Saxony and one of Luther's supporters. The soldiers took him to Wartburg castle so he could stay safe .He disguised himself as knight George for a year. During the year he translated the new testament as well as the old testament into German.
