- They preach man, who say that the soul flies out of purgatory as soon as the money thrown into the chest rattles.
- The early medieval period was filled with hardships such as the plague. Life for the average peasant was controlled mostly by the church, but that was corrupted and consumed by greed. The church had all but stopped helping people during the plague and in turn had caused a shift in power to the king instead of the church
- during the height of the medieval period, the crusades were conceived to show the churches power. The crusades were made to take back the holy land of Jerusalem, the crusades also brought knowledge back to the kingdom. Later the church started to fall due to plague
- The Crusades started when the Byzantine emperor Alexius I Comnenus asked for help against the Seljuk Turks. The Seljuk Turks were Muslims who had taken control of Asia Minor. Pope Urban II, who responded to the request, saw an opportunity to provide leadership for a great cause. That cause was rallying Europe's warriors to free Jerusalem and the Holy Land
- after the crusades and plague, trade had increased in italy, causing a massive boom in art and architecture in it's many cites, the italians had also focused on realism for their works, creating some of the most detailed artwork in history.
