  • Sir?... Sorry to disturb you, I am kind of curious: what are you in jail for?
  • My name is Harrison Bergeron. You may refer to me as Mr.Bergeron. It has been 27 years since I have been imprisoned for rebelling against my oppressive government.

  • Go on.....
  • My name is Jonas,. I am quite surprised we have anything in common at all. However, we aren't completely alike. I never wanted to be a rebel, i was chosen to be one.

  • I was raised in a mindless, colorless society where the government are the strings pulling the puppet of society. There, free will and critical thinking is strongly dis-encouraged; we are deprived of memories, our careers are chosen for us, and our emotions are suppressed through drugging. Humans considered "flawed" were "released" -which means killed- at birth.

  • The Giver was the only one who truly understood—an old man burdened with memories no one else could bear. He carried the pain, the joy, the truth of a world long lost. When he placed his hands on my back, I saw color, felt warmth, and understood pain. I slowly realized the truth: our world wasn’t safe, it was empty. Then I saw what 'release' really meant. I couldn’t let them kill Gabriel, a kid the government deemed flawed. So I ran. Through the cold, through hunger, through fear, I carried him, hoping that we would find freedom somewhere beyond.
  • That is quite fascinating. It awfully sounds like one of the books i have read here during my time here in jail.

  • In my world, equality is forced. No one is stronger, smarter, or better than anyone else. The government ensures this with weights to slow the strong, masks to hide beauty, and noise to shatter thought. I was born different. So they took me, locked me away. But I escaped. I tore off my chains, showed the world what true strength looked like. For a moment, I was free. Not anymore.

  • A child that I will likely never see again...
  • Jonas, you and I were born into different prisons, but prisons all the same. Your world erased difference: no color, no love, no choice. Mine crushed it with chains—weights noise, and masks . Both of us were made to conform. You were chosen to see what no one else could. I was born too strong, too fast, too brilliant for them to control. You ran to save a child; I rose to show the world what it had lost.
